« on: December 15, 2005, 05:17:40 PM »
I need help. I'm writing a report on Fries rearrangement and I can't find following:
1. Fries photo
2.the following article:
Fries K., Finck G., Ber., 1908, Bd.41, s.4271.
3.any information on the discovery of the rearrangement.
Can anybody help me? ???

Thanks for any information! :)

That journal article should be available at just about every university physical sciences library.  It's not available online, and it will be written in German.  Unfortunately, that's likely also the paper that describes the discovery.

Fries rearrangement is one deviation of Freidel (Charle Friedel 1832 - 1899) -Crafts (James Mason Crafts 1839 - 1917) reaction. The mechanism is similar to Freidel-Craft.
