Calculate RT in kJ/mol when T = 869C - I'm stuck!
« on: September 25, 2012, 06:52:48 PM »
I am a first year student in University and I've been stuck on this question in one of my post-lab reports.

Calculate RT in kJ/mol when T = 869C

R= 8.3145 J mol^(-1)K^(-1)    ( these are exponents to (-1))

.. now I know it's a simple sub in and multiply question. But I don't know how to convert K into kJ? And do I just sub 869 into T even though it's in Celsius?

just convert your T in C to Kelvin which is 869C + 273=1142K. then multiply it with your R giving you 9494.6 J/mol. convert your answer to kJ/mol by dividing with 1000.. you get, 9.494 kJ/mol.
