Topic: I need a high density organic non-polar liquid that is commercially available  (Read 4062 times)

This is the first time I have needed a compound for density measurements that requires a density this high (2.8 - 3.0) none of common solvents I have experience with will work.  As always I have hit dead-end-like speedbump in research before turning to here.  Any suggestions?

Try this: Methylene iodide has a density of 3.31 g/ml, a vapour pressure of 1.2 mm Hg at 25 C, and a low viscosity of 2.6 cP.

Also Bromoform ~2.9 g/mL. Toxic as well though.

Purely out of curiosity, why do you need this? You did mention density measurement; does that mean for calibration of a meter? Or....?

I think Bromoform and Chloroform are relatively stable sources .
