Reduction of cyclopentanone
« on: October 05, 2012, 11:00:06 AM »
What is the product when cyclopentanone is reduced by H_2/Pt? I was thinking of cyclopentanol but am I correct? Is there a possibility for any ring expansion?
I am horrible at chemistry.I am always liable to fail my chemistry exams. So, sorry for stupid questions.

You will get cyclopentanol. I see not possibility for any ring expansion.
Development Chemists do it on Scale, Research Chemists just do it!
