Hi thank you Babcock_Hall for the reply.
actually I have to synthesize polymeric drug that have multivalent properties. the polymer that I going to use is chitosan and the drug of interest is Isoniazid which is used for tuberculosis treatment.
I am interested on the amine group in chitosan, where i have to modify the amine functional group of chitosan to carboxyl group. then modified chitosan will coupled with isoniazid(drug) via amidation. throughout the synthesis I must apply the concept of multivalency.
what I understand is, polymers are preferred as they can create multiple unit of ligands in long linear chain.
but, I confused with the term multivalency in my synthesis. Is that will be considered a "multivalent isoniazid" when bind to the multiples copies of carboxyl group in modified chitosan.
thank you..
