Drawing reaction mechanisms with ferrocene
« on: October 20, 2012, 08:42:04 AM »
Hello all,

When drawing a reaction mechanism that involves ferrocene e.g. A friedel cratfs acylation of ferrocene, do we have to keep the circle that symbolizes the high electron density of the cyclopentadiene rings or do we have to change the ring to the two double bonds ??

Or is there a completely different way of drawing mechanisms involving ferrocene.

I hope this makes sense :S

Many Thanks

You can use the double bonds to show your mechanism as you would do with benzene rings.
Development Chemists do it on Scale, Research Chemists just do it!
