Retrosynthesis question
« on: October 29, 2012, 02:51:04 PM »
How can this compound be made? I'm not familiar with the SO2Tol moiety and I'm really stuck. I can't use retrosynthesis properly.

Well if you are starting with the amine, us should use Toluene sulfonyl chloride to alkylate the nitrogen. This can be done in dichloromethane with triethylamine as a base, or any other tertiary amine.
If you need a retro-synthesis for the whole molecule that's a different question!
