In class I was told that there is no graph for angular wave function vs phi for a 2py since we are at a node. But I think that this is a mistake, and is only true for the 2pz orbital, NOT for the 2py orbital.
After thinking about it, I am convinced that the graph for the 2py orbital of angular wave function vs phi should be a sine graph. The equation for angular wave function for 2py is Ksin(theta)sin(phi) - by my logic theta should be pi/2 and thus sin(theta) = 1. Therefore the graph of angular wavefunction vs phi should be a sine curve. Is my logic flawed? Or was my instructor mistaken? In short, is the graph nothing, or a sine curve?
