Trituration??
« on: November 14, 2012, 04:33:28 PM »
What solvent does one think is could to take up organics, but not a carboxylic acid with a alcohol moiety?  My first though is Hexanes due to polarity??  Any thoughts??
If you're not part of the solution, then you're part of the precipitate

Depends on what the impurities are. Are they more polar or less polar than your target compound?

You need something that will dissolve the impurities but not the product, or vice versa. This involves trial and error - without structural information I can't say which solvent I would try first.
