Enthalpy of Formation
« on: November 15, 2012, 09:40:10 AM »
Quick question: If the enthalpy of formation of AlCl3 (s) is given along with the enthalpy of fusion for the reaction AlCl3 (s) --> AlCl3 (l), is it correct to say that the calculation of the enthalpy of formation for AlCl3 (l) is simply the addition of these two numbers?

Thanks.

Yes, construct a Hess cycle and it should become clear.
