Hi,
can anybody give detailed information on derivatizing a natural product sample with diazomethane, and purification procedures for side products etc... which I need for the GC-MS analysis.
thanks in advance

This is highly dependant on the sample, diaztisation is used as a derivitising agent for many functional groups to increase their volitility and/or stability under GC analysis. What is the sample comprised of?

1. Start by writing a balanced chemical equation.
2. Don't confuse thermodynamic stability with chemical reactivity.
