Self condensation
« on: February 17, 2013, 06:59:26 PM »
I was studying reactions of enolates when I came into a confusing problem and I can't find an answer in a textbook. In self condensation reactions, usually in those with ketones  and aldehydes, enolates reacts with the starting compound and I can't find out any information how to prevent this self condensation. I' ve got no ideas. I hope someone will help me.

Why not provide us with an actual example.
How do you think this may be avoided?
