Amine Nomenclature with other functional groups?

I have been trying to figure out the name for this compound, and i'm a bit confused with the priorities so i'm not sure i'm on the right track:



my guess so far was 7-amino-1-hydroxy-3-octanone

Well you missed out a part of the molecule.
it is 7-amino-5-ethyl-1-hydroxyoctan-3-one thanks to ChemDraw.
Development Chemists do it on Scale, Research Chemists just do it!

somebodysomeone, for future reference you may find this websits useful - it does structure :rarrow: name conversions and is free, so you can check your answers.
