Is it worth it? We have several people trying to solve preparatory problems, so there were several threads that could go there. I am in general against creating too many subforums, especially if they are going to be dead, but as a former participant of several chemistry competitions I have a soft spot for this kind of activity.

It may help organize the information and push us up in the google searches, which is another reason why I am ready to give it a try.

You'd have to do the work to sort it out so it's your call.  If it might up the google ranking why not?  I assume you'd just make it a child board to the undergrad gen chem forum.  Not that it would not make any difference to me as I tend to just hit the "unread post since last visit" link and then open any new post I find interesting in new tabs.

I'm a high school student participating in this year's chemistry Olympiad and I think it is totally worth it. 

It'd be nice to have somewhat of a community for these types of problems, rather than them being scattered around the whole forum.

I know a bit late for devil's advocate, but the only potential downside I see to this is that sub-forums are less visible and so people with a more general interest may miss questions for which they could and would otherwise provide help.

This sort of already happens
organic people do not look at inorganic
so it even occurs at major forum level

I think that is why we get so many double posts that lead to confusion.

Of course a sub forum may cause more of this but that is the price of doing business
Surely we do not need to add another major forum if the posting is limited or spotty
I might have put it under education.
