Chair Conformations treated with LDA

If Both of the above cyclohexane chairs are treated with 2 equivalents of LDA, what is the relationship between A and B.

Also, why do we use two equivalents of LDA?

Surely you will scramble the stereochemistry of the Br group?
Two equivalents are required because you have an unprotected OH group which also reacts with LDA.
