Are the two completely different from each other? Because initially what I thought was that the primary structure was just part of the polypeptide that did not have any side chain interactions but only peptide linkages and sulfide bridges. So the I thought the random coil is the primary structure in the protein.

But reading the definition, the primary structure is the sequence of amino acid residues. So I'm confused about what the primary structure is and whether it is separate from the secondary structure.

Thanks :)
