Yes. It can hurt. It will more likely implode than explode.

What are you using it for? Whatever it is supposed to contain will splash and that can hurt too.

From the Instructions on their website:

It is highly advisable to temper any vacuum-insulated glass vessel before filling with extremely hot or
cold liquids. This is easily accomplished by rinsing the vessel with a small amount of lukewarm liquid,
cool liquid or liquid gas in advance of filling.
