successive ionization energies
« on: February 17, 2006, 04:19:53 PM »
Can anyone tell me where I can find a table of successive ionisation potentials (not just first IP's) for all the elements? I understand these have now been obtained for all electrons of all elements by a team at the Darmstadt Electron Synchrotron, though recent searches of their website have been fruitless. In particular most books only list the first few for lanthanides and other heavy elements.

si chemical data, by G. 5th edition list successive ionisation enthalpies of the elements, see the attachment.
The only stupid question is a question not asked.

Many thanks! More than I could find elsewhere - but still only first few for heavier elements. Also, I think it was the Heavy Ion people at Darmstadt (not the Electron Synchrotron) who claim to have the lot, they are one of the groups making superheavy elements - I'll try them again.

Before you bother Schadel, please realize that the first ionization energies of the super heavy elements(Z>104) are simply not known.
Most Common Suggestions I Make on the Forums.
1. Start by writing a balanced chemical equation.
2. Don't confuse thermodynamic stability with chemical reactivity.
