Preparation of dioxane dibromide

I found this article and I was wondering if there was a simpler way to produce dioxane dibromide wich not include storing in a refrigerator at below 0 °C for several months? http://www.beilstein-journals.org/bjoc/content/supplementary/1860-5397-8-35-S1.pdf

LOL! The procedure doesn't mean that you MUST store it for several months like a finely aged wine, hehe. But rather, you may store it dry and cold in the refrigerator.
