esters, aldehydes, amides, carboxylic acids all have a C=O (ketone), so, are all of these technically ketone molecules?

No they are not technically all ketones.
Go to a textbook and see if you can find out what the differences between them are.

You are right that they all have the C=O double bond functional group... but that group is not called a ketone. Do you know what the correct name is? The other compound classes you mentioned are based on what surrounds this group.

Technically you could call them all carbonyl compounds but not ketones, ketone is specific to a certain functional group.

to put it this way: the clan of carbonyl compounds has many families with even more members, and "ketone" is only one of them

They are Class of Carbonyl Compounds, but they don't posses same properties as ketones. Study Functional groups in any Organic Text book, you can find the difference.
