dissolving silicon dioxide

Is there any way to dissolve silicon dioxide (as in circuit boards).  I know that molten NaOh will dissolve glass, but would (silicon dioxide)circuit boards be vulnerable to this action as well?

Yes it would also be attacked. But more efficient, but also more dangerous is to use hydrofluoric acid H2F2.

What makes you think that circuit boards are made from silicon dioxide?

Yes good hint. Normaly made by epoxy glass compound, like FR4, Polyimide, Getek, Teflon, and others.
