Protein Purification: Phycocyanin from Spirulina
« on: October 02, 2013, 03:06:03 PM »
In this lab performed a gel filtration with unknown samples of spirulina which were the homogenates, blue faction, and yellow faction.

The blue fraction was the larger protein molecules and the yellow was the smaller molecules. But what is the identity of the yellow sample as far as what type of protein it was?

It is a forum rule that you must show an attempt before we can help you.  In this particular instance, there may not be enough information to solve the problem.  However, do you know the principle by which gel filtration works?  If so, what can you conclude about relative order of elution of the blue versus the yellow protein?
