Major/Minor product for E2 rxn
« on: November 16, 2013, 12:25:27 AM »
hey everyone,

first of all i just wanna say thank you for wanting to read and help :3 means a lot because

I DONT GET THIS STUFF lol.
but im trying, i really am.

I provided a picture, Here's my question:

I gave two problems, the first problem with the cyclohexane, I understood everything, designated the correct alpha and beta carbons, and those were my products, answer was the same answer in the book

However, with the second problem, I'm getting a different product from the book, in the book they put down the first two I got, but not the third one....Why not? Couldn't that methyl become a double bond? That's what happened in the other problem I gave....

so confused :/

What's the difference between the second and third products? Perhaps you could name them for us.
