fixed balloons connectivity!!
« on: January 31, 2014, 02:13:43 AM »
hi all
as you know refluxing acids in balloons can cause the connectivity of balloons (the condenser or the stoppers in 2 or 3 necked balloons) get fixed and it would be impossible to separate them easily (even in using Silicone oil for connections) :'( , is there any way to prevent this problems and also is there any other situation except refluxing acid to make this difficulty?
thanks for your help in advance

A little bit hard to understand the problem -- I guess you're using a latex balloon to catch vapor?  And you call sticking together, or sticking to the glassware "connectivity"  OK, whatever.  Can you tell us why, in particular, you're using a balloon and not a vapor absorbing column in a fume hood?
Hey, I'm not judging.  I just like to shoot straight.  I'm a man of science.

excuse me for my poor English, no all the equipments are made of glass and I don't intend to catch vapor, I'm tryng to synthesize an organic compound by refluxing in acidic medium containing water+H2SO4+CH3CO2H
