Filtering a hydrochloric acid solution
« on: February 10, 2014, 02:24:39 AM »
Hi.

I am working on gold recovery from printed circuit boards using hydrochloric acid and hydrogen peroxide to dissolve the copper which the gold is adhered to. Once the gold flakes separate, they need to be filtered out. What can I use as a filter medium? I know that coffee filters work, but I have over a gallon to filter. Is there any cloth that will stand up to the acid?

Thanks,
Joe

There are several filter materials in the market made by PP-mash.

Sinter glass filter. It will resist acids but not strong alkali solutions.
