What would you do with 10 PhD Chemists?
« on: January 16, 2014, 11:22:51 AM »
Just wondered what great or small ideas people have for what to do with a PhD? What questions or ideas (that are feasible!!) would people research into?

Cheers.

Enroll in an MBA course, become a merchant banker, lawyer, medic. That should keep you busy.
According to the Merck boss chemists are not required anymore, just biologists.
Development Chemists do it on Scale, Research Chemists just do it!

Study plants in the amazon. There are so many undiscovered/unstudied herbs in rain forest that could lead to so many new types of medicine.

It really does depend on the people.  At the generic pharmaceutical company I worked at, 6 or 8 PhD's were simply the laboratory managers, planning out the days work for 50 MS and BoS's just to analyze production.  So off hand, I don't think 50 PhD's are going to cure cancer or achieve economical fusion power, or the like.
Hey, I'm not judging.  I just like to shoot straight.  I'm a man of science.

I'd get a van and we could all drive around solving mysteries with an anthropomorphic dog

Just wondered what great or small ideas people have for what to do with a PhD?

Pyramid scheme: Christen them "Professors". Wait for 5 years. Hatch 50 new PhD's. Rinse. Repeat.
