I'm trying to copy a solution of strontium nitrate. I sent the solution to spectrum labs and was told it had 15.8g/L of strontium
They did not test for strontium nitrate, but elemental strontium.
How do I reverse this to a strontium nitrate solution? I have strontium nitrate powder.
Here's my thought process:
How many grams of Strontium nitrate - Sr(NO3)2 would have 15.8grams of Strontium?
Atomic mass of Strontium 87.62 g/mol
Atomic Mass of Sr(NO3)2 or strontium nitrate is 211.678 g/mol
87.62 / 211.678 * 15.8 grams = 38.17 grams
Assuming my calculations are correct: Strontium Nitrate solution of 38.17g/L would have 15.8g/L of elemental Strontium.
It's been a long time since i've had inorganic chemistry . Please check my calculations and tell me if i'm correct.
thanks,
Dave
