Please can you provide a little more detail of your process which is producing the waste

i.e. what are you useing the sodium for and what scale are you doing this at (mg, g, kg etc)

Ok, well this drying solvents over sodium carries an extremely high risk and should only be carried out by a trained individual. If you are not trained then seek somone who is in your department.

I have seen too many serious accidents with sodium drying to give details on an open forum. However if you don't have anyone to train you then I highly recommend purchasing dry solvents or getting a copy of Vogel's Textbook of Practical Organic Chemistry and Advanced Practical Organic Chemistry, J. Leornard and learn from them.

Please do not put your trust, and therefore personal safety, in the hands of an annonymous forum user when it comes to handling hazardous material.

Kind regards
