solvent identity
« on: May 08, 2014, 02:30:31 PM »
i got this NMR from distillation and im having trouble coming up with the identity of the solvent, it has a strong smelly that resembles an amine, but its not amine.
does not have NO, aldehyde, no multiple bonds, i still have to do the test for OH and think about the ester, but im leaning towards an ester or OH somewhere. this is what i came up with, im not sure if its correct. ive done a lot of tests on it and cant get the correct structure =/

What was the reaction?  Conditions before you tried to purify by distillation??
If you're not part of the solution, then you're part of the precipitate

Explain your logic. How are your proposed structures consistent with the data? Are they consistent?
