I'd need to convert l-methionone with liquid ammonia and sodium metal with the temperature of -30 to -40 Celsius. What would be the cheapest tool to use/buy. The reaction would take ca. 2.5 hours.
Another thing: What would happen if the ammonia evaporates and comes in contact with, lets say an unshielded electric cable (in the deep freezer for example)? Could that happen, or is that impossible. If not, I'd have to take a different approach (methionine with sulferic acid 125-135 Celsius to create homocystine, then reduce it somehow to get homocysteine (disconnect the di-sulphide bond).
