Chiral columns are expensive, has anyone tried making one yourself? If so, what amount of what compound did you mix into your silica? I know it will vary depending on the compound I'm trying to isolate, but it would be helpful to have a place to start my brainstorming. Any amount of detail appreciated!!!

If you put a chiral reagent in your mobile phase, you can get a chiral separation on any column.  A pentaflurophenyl column is often a good choice for this sort of separation, sometimes providing a chiral separation with chiral modified eluent.

Sorry, what I meant to say was you can get a chiral separation on a pentafluoro column without using a chiral modifier in the eluent.
