Addition of HBr acroos the pi bond of 2-pentene
« on: June 14, 2014, 07:41:59 PM »
Hi all!

Please tell me if my logic is right:

In 2-pentene, both carbon atoms of the pi bond have the same degree of substitution. Therefore, the bromine atom can be installed at both location of the pi bond giving a total of 3 products: 2-bromopentane (racemic) and 3-bromopentane

Thank you
