Substances with lower boiling points than water
« on: June 16, 2014, 12:50:24 AM »
Hello,

I am not a chemist. But I heard that in the past few years, chemical substances have been invented which have boiling points much lower than water. Does anyone know what these substances might be? Or where I can find information about recent chemical inventions?

Thank you.

God invented these a long time ago. Ethanol for example.

I think we need some context here. There are a huge number - mostly discovered rather than invented, and not all that recently. Helium, Nitrogen etc.
My research: Google Scholar and Researchgate

There are a lot of artificial chemicals (not found in nature) that have a lower bp than water.
Example : CCl4 (76.72 °C) or diethyl ether (35 °C)
