In the complex [Co(en)2(H2O)2]Cl3, how could you experimentally determine whether the Cl ions are not bound directly to the central Co(III) atom?
Also if the complex was treated with oxalate, two complexes are isolated [Co(en)2(ox)(H2O)]Cl and [Co(en)2(ox)]Cl. Would there be a preference for (ox) being monodentate or bidentate? Why are both formed? Would there be two diastereoisomers of [Co(en)2(ox)(H2O)]Cl and two enantiomers for [Co(en)2(ox)]Cl?
Thanks in advance
