Today I wanted to make some Copper (II) Chloride, so I got a 9.1g piece of copper wire, and placed it in 25mL of 10.01M HCl, three mL less than the stoichiometric requirement so as to ensure all HCl was used, and then slowly added H2O2 (3% store bought). This was all going fine until I poured out the last of my peroxide with the reaction only half completed. What I'm not sure of is weather or not the formation of the CuCl42- due to the excess Cl- will produce unwanted results as I add more H2O2 once I buy more.
