Electronegativity, charge density, size, formal charge on cation

I can't find any information on how variations in charge density and size affect this. Can someone explain?

Non metals, like sulfur, selenium, chlorine and others  give oxide which all acidic. Half metals, like arsenic, stibium and metals in 3 to 6 group and heavy metals with oxidation number higher then 4 give give amphotheric oxides. Heavy metals with oxidation number +1 to +3 give alkaline oxides. Group 1 and 2 give only alkaline oxides.
