Suppose I have a lotion, which is an emulsification of oil in water, where the emulsions are stablised by using emulsifying wax (molecules of the wax have both hydrophillic and lipophillic parts). Also suppose I have a salt dissolved in the water phase. What is the best way to go about extracting my salt? Do I HAVE to break the emulsions? I assume if I heat it enough then the emulsions will break and the oil and water layers will seperate and extraction from there on out will be elementary. But is there a way seperate the oil and water phases without using heat?

Also I think it's important, and makes a significant difference, that the emulsion I have is oil in water and not water in oil. Since what I want is dissolved in the water phase, shouldn't this make it easier to extract?
