The attached forensic communication appeared in 1944 in Analyst, Volume 9, pp 97-98. The results of a study of dextro- vs. levo- ice crystals, complete with suitable controls, were purported to establish the toxicity of solid (-)-H2O.
This topic was revisited in 2010 in a short, informative RSC article prepared by J. R. G. Evans; see:

Here, I am reminded of the "polywater craze" that persisted throughout the late 1960s - early 1970s (see:

), the intent of which can be readily differentiated from the 1944 forensic communication. Indeed, polywater presents a clear example of "pathological science"; see:
