How do I activate Pd/C??
« on: December 04, 2014, 08:18:59 AM »
I have 50g of 10% Pd/C and I tried running a same reaction I ran a year ago using Hydrazine Hydrate. THe reaction is not effective. One of the possibile sources of error could be that either Pd/C or Hydrazine can be deactivated (i.e. oxidised ) quite readily. I have searched around to find ways to regenerate the catalyst but to no avail.

Would appreciate it if any of y'all could post up a procedure to activate Pd/C

Thanks in advance

Try pre-hydrogenating it in the solvent system you will use for the reaction. Overnight at NTP.
