I guess he learnt the hard way to keep the safety on when not using it. Hopefully he taught his kids (if he had any) to always use the safety and keep your finger off the trigger unless you intend to shoot the gun. I've been shot paintballing by people who are so #*$&!^$ stupid that they take off the safety, removed their barrel cap (sometimes called a barrel condom), put their finger on the trigger, and then procede to wave it around.  Stupid people.
