General Chemistry 2 Problems
« on: February 13, 2015, 07:49:57 PM »
1)A  sample of 200 g of water at 20°C absorbs 120 kJ of heat. What mass of
    water will evaporate?
S (water)  = 4.18 J/g∙C,  S(steam) = 2.04J/g∙C, ∆Hvap  of water = 40.7 kJ/mol

2)An ionic solid has a CsCl type of unit cell with edge length of 294 pm. What is
the radius of the anion if the radius of the cation is 132 pm.

Can someone please explain these step by step, for the first one I know the formula for heat vaporization is q= m* ∆Hv but I don't think I'm setting it up right. Thank you in advance.

You have to show your attempts at solving the question to receive help. This is a forum policy.

Hint: before evaporation water has to be heated to the boiling point.
