I remember reading that if you have an "ene" ending it takes priority over an "ol" ending and you must replace the "ol" with a hydroxy prefix because you can't have 2 endings/suffixes mixed together. I believe that enes have an alkenyl prefix.
However, when I search the internet for ethenol I get 97,700 results - which is 2 endings mixed together
When I search the internet for hydroxyethene I get 2,050 results
When I search the internet for alkenylethenol I get 0 results
So which one would be correct? I would think hydroxyethene, but ethenol brings up more results.
