Ascorbic acid and baking soda, is it safe?
« on: March 24, 2015, 09:06:53 PM »
Hi there. So recently I've started drinking pure vit C (C6H806) with water and I add some baking soda (NaHCO3) to neutralise the acidic taste. I know this reaction forms CO2 and some sodium carbonate (Na2CO3) which softens water. Besides the unpleasant toilet experience, are there any effects of sodium carbonate forming in my intestines that I should worry about?

Can you write a balanced equation
or What results do you expect from a reaction
(note there may be more than 1 of either substance)
NaHCO3 + C6H8O6  :rarrow:
