Home Investigative Project
« on: June 05, 2015, 01:20:50 PM »
I'm looking for an investigative style project that I can complete in my home lab. I've got basic facilities including water, hot plate, etc.

In terms of theory I've completed 2 years of high school chemistry, and this project would hopefully allow me some individual practice before I enter college. Any ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

That one maybe? It needs cold and a set of pure n-alkanes.

Good measures would have a scientific interest, since most books explain the even-odd effect on the melting point by a "packing efficiency" which I'm not convinced of. A set of densities or shrinkages may let search other explanations.
