Anyone know what is the meaning of [H2O] (H2O in a square bracket symbol) in chemistry?

A square bracket often denotes the concentration of something, i.e. [X] is shorthand for the concentration of X. It depends on the context though...

Concentrations you can give in different units. At least its a amount divided to a volume. The amount can be a mass, moles, or also a volume.
c = b/V
So you can have b in g/l, mol/l , ml/l but also percentage.

Concentration is a measure of how much one substance is present in the mixture. Every way of expressing it that is unambiguous is OK. Molarity is one of these ways, but while molarity is a way of expressing concentration, saying that concentration is molarity is wrong.
