TOC in purified water
« on: June 17, 2015, 11:20:46 AM »
Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anyone has any good hints or tips for getting the TOC of their purified water to be a minimum? Our Purite purifier currently states it can get <50ppb TOC and although this is true sometimes we get a reading of 20ppb, other times its 49ppb. Ideally we want this TOC to be as low as possible(closer to 20ppb) so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You'll have to investigate how its final polishing is done.  If its due for preventive maintenance, then do so.  If not, consider that it may still need to be checked out by a service technician.  It may be that your system has some sort of intermittent microbial growth in some dead space within it.  Also, intermittent trace results are also suspicious -- you may be contaminating your receiving vessel, or your transfer tubing, or may even lack some accuracy with your TOC determination.
Hey, I'm not judging.  I just like to shoot straight.  I'm a man of science.
