CO2 or water-CO2 pressure?
« on: July 09, 2015, 07:16:57 AM »
Hello to everyone  :D!In some books and publications I've found solubilities of Carbon dioxide in water at different temperatures and pressures.
I'm not an expert and i have a doubt: is pressure value related to CO2 partial pressure or to water-CO2 mixture pressure or it's the same? Can you help me to understand if there is a difference.
Sorry if the question seems quite stupid.

Table should clearly state what is meant.

It's the partial pressure of the soluble gas. The liquid's pressure equals the total pressure of the gas, which can include other gaseous components.

By the way, it works for vapours the same way as for dissolved gasses. A table of vapour pressure over water gives you also the partial pressure of vapour in the atmosphere.
