I am new to this forum, its a neat little board you have here. Anyways I am pretty bad in chemistry and wanted to double check my work before sending it in. If someone can go over it and tell me if they are correct or most of them for that matter would be greatly appericated. All have to do with
sulfar

Yes! Think about what conc. Sulfuric acid could do with a carbo
HYDRATE
Hint: conc. Sulfuric acid is hygroscopic....it attracts water
Other hint: elementar carbon is a product of this reaction

Correct!
If you want to you can set up a reaction equation
C
6
H
12
O
6
+ H
2
SO
4
----> C
0
+ H
2
SO
4
*H

reworked.
4. hydrosulfuric acid (hydro since it is a water solution)
8. h2
10. copper sulfite is formed
11. sulfuric acid
12. H2SO2
13. weak acid
14. sulfur

4.)No..
8.)Still wrong...Hint: Sulfur(Vi) is reduced to Sulfur(iV) while elementar copper is oxidized to Cu
2+
10.)Forget about oxygen being involved itn this reaction...the product is a salt with only Copper and Sulfur, where sulfur carries a double negative charge.
11.)Still wrong..
12.)Sulfites are salts of H
2
SO
3
(try to name the compound by yourself...)
13.)Yeah! It's a pretty weak acid
14.)Correct! The vulcanized sulfur makes the rubber elastic...(disulfide bonds between the hydrocarbon chains)
16.)Ahhhhhhh.....Na
2
SO
2
would be a sulfoxylate...the sulfur in sulfites is +4!
17.)Correct! SO
3
+ H
2
O ----> H
2
SO

You probably should check out this site...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sulfuric_acid
Particularly...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sulfuric_acid#Chemical_properties
For #4 read this definition, maybe it will help a little...
http://dictionary.reference.com/search?r=2&q=aqueous
Read some wikipedia articles for things closely related to Sulfur like sulfuric acid, sulfur dioxide, et cetera. Then come back and try to fix your errors. Wikipedia sometimes can be unreliable though so keep that in mind.
