Hey i want to know whats the corrosion rate of pure magnesium in saltwater??? is it at a fast rate?

I've heard of iron-magnesium-seawater batteries (without any depolarizer) that last for a few years, so a plain thick electrode takes at least as long to dissolve without an external circuit.
