Maybe you guys could help me?
« on: September 14, 2015, 01:45:58 PM »
Hi guys,

Seeing how this is chemical work...thought I should try this forum!

Kinda new to all this, its for my workplace, excuse any bad terminology...If you need any more information about anything just ask!

I'm looking for something, maybe a plastic, or something which begins in a liquid state which sets hard (Already have epoxy resin in mind, but want other options too) which will be unaffected by pure acetone and also will not have a silicone based sealant bond to it (preferably no kind of sticking, adhering etc) but so long as it would peel off it without too much trouble its worth looking at.

Even if you could give me some advice on the base chemicals, it could help me look for certain products.

Any input atall is welcome.

Thanks in advance.

Plaster. Cement. Concrete.

Powder of anhydrous alumina. Commercially available, mix with water, put in form, it hardens to a ceramic.

Terracotta.

Low-melting alloys. Some melt in a bain-marie.

Paraffin. Choose the melting temperature. Wax maybe, I didn't try acetone on it.

Other plastics - but acetone disolves many ones, including epoxy.
